Daily Shakespeare

engillishdx:

Installment Six:  Oh no he didn’t!  Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba sithi uhhmm ingonyama!  What are your thoughts on the ghost?  What would you do in the same situation, with that information?  What is the deal with Hamlet’s “antic disposition?”  In case you were wondering, this is where Hamlet starts to get exciting.  On to Act II!

The ghost is the catalyst for the rest of the story, pretty much. Hamlet wants to get revenge on Claudius now that late King Hamlet’s ghost has informed him of how he killed him. I would feel the same way.

Daily Shakespeare

engillishdx:

Installment Two:  As you should be able to tell, Hamlet is quite a wit.  Which of Hamlet’s quick comments did you like the most in Act I, scene ii?  Explain what he says, and why you find it funny.

(You should be paying attention to Polonius, Laertes, Claudius, Gertrude, Horatio, and, of course, Hamlet - for those of you doing the responsible thing and keeping character notes.)

If you want brownie points, share your own favorite witty retort today - bonus if you use some snazzy pun.

Lines 184-185: I prithee, do not mock me, fellow student. I think it was to see my mother’s wedding.

Please, don’t make fun of me. me. I think it was to see my mother’s wedding.

I like it because Hamlet is pointing out the lack of time between his father’s death and his mother’s wedding to his uncle.

The sound of water escaping from mills, dams, willows, old rotten planks, slimy posts and brickwork. I love such things. These scenes made me a painter.

COREY!

I hope the title gets your attention. You answered a question of mine on this a really long time ago, and I didn’t see it, either because I was too lazy to get back on, or I’m too inept at this website. Regardless, I appreciate your answer. So basic point of this post: Thanks for the answer, sorry I didn’t respond back.

It wasn’t only wickedness and scheming that made people unhappy, it was confusion and misunderstanding; above all, it was the failure to grasp the simple truth that other people are as real as you.

Oh yeah…

I basically forgot about the existence of this, but I’m going to be better about it now. The only things that have been going on in my life really are track and school, so tumblr hasn’t missed much. I’ll be a bit more active with this in the future.

Track

My life is basically consumed by it now. It’s from 3:00 to 5:45 every day after school, which, with preparation before, totals up to around three hours. And after, I’m either terribly exhausted or terribly busy, leaving me with zero usable free time. Well, except to write this (but I’m taking this out of my sleeping time, so it doesn’t count.) Speaking of sleep, I’m off to bed.
